Privacy Policy
At Saru we respect your privacy. This policy describes what information the app handles, how it is used and the rights you have over it. If you have questions, contact us at hello@sarujp.com.
1. Information we handle
Saru is designed to work without registration or user account. We do not collect personally identifiable information such as name, email, location or contacts.
The app stores locally on your device: your preferred language (Spanish or English), the selected JLPT level and category, the lessons you have marked as learned and your verb form preferences (dictionary, masu, ta, te). This information never leaves your device.
2. In-app purchases
Saru offers a one-time purchase "Saru Pro" for $4.99 USD that unlocks all levels and lessons. The purchase is processed through Apple and governed by the App Store terms. We do not have access to your payment information (card, address, etc.); everything is handled by Apple.
To verify that you have Saru Pro active, the app checks Apple's purchase receipt through StoreKit. We do not store unique identifiers on external servers.
3. Third-party services
Saru uses only Apple services (StoreKit for purchases, the operating system to play audio). We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook SDK, nor any tracking or advertising tools. We do not share information with third parties.
4. Crash reports
iOS automatically collects anonymous crash reports if you have enabled "Share with App Developers" in your settings. These reports help us fix bugs and contain no personal information. You can disable them in Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.
5. Children's privacy
Saru is rated for all ages (4+). We do not collect personal information from any user, so we do not handle children's data intentionally or accidentally.
6. Your rights
Under GDPR (EU) and equivalent laws, you have the right to access, rectify or delete your data. Since Saru does not store personal data on our servers, there is nothing to request. To delete all local data, uninstall the app.
7. Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we will reflect the date in "Last updated" above. If changes are substantial, we will communicate them within the app before they take effect.
