Terms of Use

1. License to use

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Saru on iOS devices you own or control, in accordance with Apple's App Store Terms of Service.

You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell or rent any part of Saru or its content. You may not reverse engineer or attempt to extract the source code.

2. In-app purchases

Saru Pro is a one-time purchase of $4.99 USD (price may vary by country) that unlocks all JLPT levels and lessons. It is a one-time payment: there are no recurring subscriptions.

Refunds are handled by Apple according to App Store policies. We cannot process refunds directly. To request one, contact Apple support.

3. Intellectual property

The content of Saru (vocabulary, translations, illustrations, brand, code) is owned by Saru or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. Your license to use the app does not grant you any rights over this content beyond personal use in the app.

4. Acceptable use

You agree to use Saru only for lawful and personal purposes. You may not use the app in ways that cause harm, interfere with other users or services, or violate applicable laws.

5. Content accuracy

We do our best to make translations and vocabulary accurate, but language learning is complex. Saru is provided as a study tool and does not guarantee fluency or passing the JLPT exam. We recommend supplementing with other materials and teachers.

6. Disclaimer of warranties

Saru is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the app is error-free, uninterrupted, or that it meets your specific expectations.

7. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, Saru will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages arising from the use or inability to use the app. Our maximum liability will never exceed the amount paid by you for Saru Pro.

8. Changes to the app and terms

We may update Saru, its features and these terms at any time. Substantial changes will be communicated within the app or by email. Continued use after changes implies your acceptance.

9. Termination

You can stop using Saru at any time by uninstalling the app. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these terms. Termination does not entitle you to a refund.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the country of residence of Saru's owner. Any dispute will be resolved in the competent courts of that jurisdiction.
